Sustainability
Our connection to Marlborough shapes the way we do things. We take a thoughtful approach to sustainability, making practical choices that support our region and the way we operate each day.
-
At Wine + Food Marlborough Experience, supporting local is at the heart of what we do. We prioritise local producers for our wine, gin and beer, with the majority of our stock sourced locally.
By keeping our supply chain close to home, we can showcase the people, produce and flavours that make Marlborough wine and food special, while reducing the distance our products need to travel.
-
We take practical steps across our kitchen and bar to reduce waste wherever possible.
All bottles and cardboard are recycled.
The majority of our beer is served from kegs, helping to reduce packaging and bottle waste.
Our menu is thoughtfully designed to help minimise food waste.
A portion of suitable kitchen waste is hygienically collected and repurposed as animal feed locally.
Wine caps are collected and donated to a local Rotary organisation, where they are collected and melted down for recycling.
Cleaning cloths are sanitised and reused rather than relying on disposable alternatives.
-
Being more mindful of our energy use is another part of our day-to-day approach.
We use low-energy light bulbs throughout the venue, with lighting timers helping to reduce unnecessary energy consumption when areas are not in use.
-
We also make it easier for our team to choose a more sustainable way to travel to work.
Dedicated bicycle storage is available for staff, providing a practical option for those who choose to cycle.
Our Approach
Sustainability is part of the everyday decisions we make at Wine + Food Marlborough. By sourcing locally where possible, reducing waste and being mindful of our energy use, we aim to operate in a more responsible way.
